Unprofessional Hong Kong?

Posted by Unknown at 16:52
So today was pretty good- I did not have my drama practicals, I'm most likely getting the Versailles memorial pendent for Christmas/my birthday, and we got the keys to the new house as well. So all in all, today was pretty good.

But then I log onto twitter to see allkpop tweet that SHINee got booed in Hong Kong? My initial reaction was honestly,
"WHAT?! HOW DARE THEY BOO MY SHINee?!?! DO THEY NOT KNOW WHO THEY ARE? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THEM????"

Now I admit that that did come from a biased mind, but we really can't help that, now can we? Anyways, a few minutes later I cooled down a bit, and checked tumblr (which is basically where I go for all of my information now). I've read the fan accounts, and I've seen the video, and I have reached the conclusion (as many other fans have) that this unfortunate turn of events was not SHINee's fault.

Obviously this was as a result of lack of communication and poor organizational skills. The translator should have been better prepared, or at least received a bit more training. That entire event appeared to be poorly organized (from what I saw from the fancam). So many problems could have been avoided if Etude House took more care into the organization of this event. If there's one thing that pisses me off the most it's a "professional" event that is completely disorganized.

However, I do think the HK reporters really did overreact. According to one of the explanations I read, the reporters who tried to take some pictures of SHINee felt as though they were roughly treated by the Korean staff the day before. Okay. I get that. But even if this was "rude and disrespectful" (which is not verified to my knowledge), there is nothing more rude or disrespectful than reporters, who are supposed to be professional and unbiased people, boo a band because of what their staff members did. No matter the circumstances. This kind of behaviour should never be accepted in the media world.

Plus the headlines I have been hearing about that state that SHINee "only cared about using their phones" and they "disregarded their fans", etc.- I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME PROOF, PLEASE. This is not just me being biased, I swear, but I have yet to see actual proof to support these statements. If anyone has some, do share. I'm not saying that these claims cannot possibly be true, I am simply saying I have not seen any proof of anything stated, ever. And spreading lies (especially about my favourite kpop band) is not going to get you very far up on my list.

Now please not that I am NOT blaming every citizen of Hong Kong for this mess. I have nothing against these people. It's just that these reporters are pissing me off and ruining my good-ish day!! Plus they probably did not even think about how this would affect SHINee themselves. They did nothing wrong. If you go watch the fancam all you will see is blank stares mixed with confusion. It's not their fault they do not understand the language. They were just going with what people told them. Now if you had booed the translator or the organizers of this event I would have been more understanding. But it would not have made you any less unprofessional.

But I must say, SHINee has once again shown us how professional they really are. And I really am proud of them. I could never be so calm about this situation if I was in their shoes.

And if you would like to see for yourself-

Also, not related to this at all, but How I Met Your Mother's new episode tonight was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy. First of all, how is the new episode affected? Just curious because I really don't know. And secondly, I hope everyone tries to stay safe during this terrible hurricane! My prayers go out to you.
